Control4 Home Automation
One app, one remote, one system for the whole house.
ExploreControl4 Panelized Lighting
Control4 panelized lighting moves the dimmers into panels in the rack room, so walls carry a single engraved keypad instead of six toggles. Scenes, schedules and dimming that flatters architecture and finishes, from the same system that runs the rest of the house.
Overview
Panelized lighting control moves dimmers and relays out of wall boxes into lighting panels in the rack room, with every circuit wired home-run to the panel, so walls carry only engraved keypads and every load is controllable in scenes and schedules from Control4.
The biggest visible difference between a well-designed home and an ordinary one is how it is lit at night. Panelized lighting control lets you set the recessed cans, cove LEDs, pendants and landscape lights to exact levels for each moment, save that as a scene, and call it from a single keypad. The bank of six toggles by the front door disappears, and every load in the house is on one system with the shades, climate and security.
We design the lighting control layout with your architect or interior designer, coordinate loads with the electrician, and program each scene on site with you. In new construction we specify Control4 centralized lighting panels fed by home-run wiring; in retrofits we use Control4 wireless dimmers and keypads that install in existing boxes, and Lutron where a project calls for it.
Try it
This is the logic we program into every home: rooms that respond individually, and scenes that move the whole house at once from a keypad, a remote, a phone or your voice.
Capabilities
Control4 lighting panels in the rack room carry the dimmers and relays. Walls carry keypads only, so architecture stays clean.
Control4 keypads in finishes that match the hardware in the room, engraved with the scenes you actually use.
Morning, Dinner, Entertain, Late Night and Away, each tuned per fixture and reachable from a keypad, app or voice.
Exterior and landscape lights follow sunset and sunrise year-round. Pathway lights come up as you drive in.
The house replays your normal lighting pattern while you are away so it never looks empty.
We match dimmer modules to LED fixtures and verify smooth, flicker-free dimming to the bottom of the range.
Scope
Instead of a dimmer in every wall box, the dimming hardware lives in panels in the rack room and each circuit is wired home-run to it. Walls only need a keypad, so there are fewer devices, cleaner walls, easier service and full integration with Control4 scenes.
Both are excellent. Control4 panelized lighting keeps lighting, shades, AV, cameras and security on one processor and one dealer, which is why it is our default. Lutron HomeWorks is a strong choice for very large lighting-only scopes, and it integrates with Control4 when a project calls for it.
For panelized systems, yes: each keypad needs a box and a wire, and each circuit needs a home run to the panel. That is why we lay out keypads with the interior designer during electrical rough-in. Retrofits use wireless keypads that can move later.
