Key Biscayne, Miami-Dade County

Island homes that run themselves, and stay online.

Key Biscayne is a small island with a big range of homes: canal-front houses in the village, oceanfront condos along Ocean Lane and the estates of the Key's northern streets. Salt air is constant, hurricane season is serious and many homes are second residences that owners manage from elsewhere. Remote access, reliable networks and cameras that keep recording through an outage matter here more than almost anywhere.

Local knowledge

What matters in Key Biscayne.

We also see a lot of aging systems on the Key. If your original integrator has moved on and the rack is a mystery, we can audit what is there, reuse what is good and rebuild on Control4.

  • Ocean and bay exposure on both sides of the island; exterior cameras, intercoms and speakers must be marine-rated and sealed.
  • Many owners are away for months at a time; we prioritize remote access, UPS backup and monitoring so the house can be checked from anywhere.
  • A single road on and off the Key makes service scheduling important; we group visits and resolve most issues remotely.

Questions

Key Biscayne FAQ

Our old automation company is gone. Can you take over the system?

Yes. We start with an audit of the rack and wiring, recover or reset what we can, and give you a written plan: what to keep, what to replace and what it costs. Most homes keep most of their wiring and replace the processor, remotes and network.

Will the cameras keep working during a storm?

They record for as long as the battery backup lasts, which we size to the home. On a generator circuit they run indefinitely. Remote viewing depends on the internet connection, which is why we recommend a cellular failover on the Key.
